Please contact me if you would like to commission a pet portrait from a photo. I use high quality, archival materials to ensure your pet portrait will stand the test of time. I can work from your photograph providing it is of high quality – see below for some tips for taking a suitable photograph to ensure the best likeness possible. I can email progress photos whilst working on your portrait if required, to ensure that you are happy with how the picture is taking shape.

Tips for taking photographs :
Photos need to be of high resolution in order to provide enough clear detail for your portrait. Zoom in to check that detail isn’t pixelated when you look closely. Natural light is best if possible, but whatever lighting there is, it is best if the light source is to one side of your pet – for example; if you are outdoors, have the sun to the side rather than behind or in front of the subject. It is best not to use a flash as this can bleach out fur detail and cause red eyes. If the photo is taken indoors try to have your pet close to a window with plenty of natural light. Try to get down to your pets level rather than taking the photo looking down at them, and obviously try to catch them in a typical pose with a typical expression!
Important information :
PLEASE READ!
I often have a waiting list for pet portrait commissions so please contact me to find out current waiting time and to book an approximate time slot. If you would like to purchase a pet portrait as a gift, I can provide gift vouchers if I am unable to complete the portrait in time for an event.
I require a 20% deposit when booking, then full payment must be made before the completed portrait is posted. The deposit is non-refundable unless I am unable to complete your portrait for any reason. You will receive a watermarked image of the completed portrait by email to approve before the balance payment is requested.
If for any reason I do not receive balance payment for a portrait, I reserve the right to sell the artwork to another party.
Caring for you artwork
When you receive your pet portrait it is important to care for it correctly. Pastel art is delicate and can smudge so it must be framed behind glass to protect it. I can offer advice to help with this if required. Although I use archival materials with high lightfast ratings it is important that you do not hang your portrait in direct sunlight or above a heat source such as a fire or radiator.
Copyright:
I retain copyright on all the artwork that I produce. Completed artwork may be displayed on my website and social media unless you request otherwise.
It is your responsibility to ensure that you have the right to use the photograph you supply to me. If it has been taken by a third party such as a professional photographer, then you must obtain their written permission for me to use the photo to produce a portrait. I will need this permission in writing before I can commence your portrait.
